Ralph Lovingood Obituary

Ralph Lee Lovingood, 90, of Gainesville, Ga., formerly of Murphy, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in a Gainesville, Ga., hospital.
Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Air Force when he was 18 and proudly served his country for 35 years. He and Johnnie were stationed overseas in Germany and England, and had the opportunity to travel around Europe and Africa. He also visited all 50 states before he passed.
Ralph had a heart for service and would give you the shirt off his back. He and his wife volunteered for MUST Ministries in Marietta, Ga., and were foster parents. After his wife passed of cancer, Ralph spent a year transporting cancer patient to their treatments.
He loved the North Carolina mountains and fishing on Hiwassee Lake. He was a very loving husband, father and friend. 
He was the son of the late Allen B. and Delphia Mae Gulley Lovingood of Murphy, and husband of the late Johnnie Mae Cole Lovingood of Murphy, who died Feb. 5, 2010. They were married for 50 years. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Lovingood.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Lovingood Lindsey and husband Richard of Gainesville, Ga.; one sister, Sherry Lovingood Hewlett of Anderson, S.C.; and also survived by several extended family members.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at Macedonia (Wolf Creek) Baptist Church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force. Music will be provided by Suzanne Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Ralph Lee Lovingood to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka KS 66675-8516.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, is in charge of all arrangements.
