Raymond Younce Obituary

Raymond Arthur Younce, 81, of Andrews, N.C., passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, surrounded by his caring family.
He was born Sept. 5, 1944, to the late William and Ruby Ingram Younce.
Raymond was a devoted family man, loyal friend and a master guitar player.
Raymond started his career as a skilled machinist tool and die maker in Gastonia, N.C., and after moving back to Andrews he continued his trade at various establishments. He even taught this rare trade at Tri-County Community College for several years before retiring from TEAM Industries, where he was known for his meticulous attention to detail, ingenuity and dedication to excellence. His hands shaped more than metal – they built parts that kept the world turning, and a family that kept his heart full.
Outside of his trade, Raymond enjoyed spending time with his family, fly fishing, hunting, watching the Toronto Blue Jays and making bluegrass music on Monday nights with his family and friends.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, of 60 years; daughters, Sheila (Barry) Curtis and Tammy (Willard) Enloe; grandchildren, Eden (Colby) Orr, Annalise Enloe (Nate) and Braxton (Bethany) Curtis. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Adalyn Nix, Oliver Crisp and Colton Curtis; sister and brothers-in law, Shirley (Jimmy) Mann, Mary (Charlie) Wilson; sister-in-law. Shelby Younce; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruby Ingram Younce; brother, Nelson Younce; and nephew, Michael Mann.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Raymond Younce was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at Red Marble Baptist Church with the Revs. Mickey Stewart and David Postell officiating. Music was by the Smokey Mountain Gospel Singers. Burial followed at Red Marble Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were V.C. Taylor, Jerry Campbell, Scotty Hicks, Braxton Curtis, Terry Yonce, Charlie Wilson, Willard Enloe and Roy Postell. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Postell, Doug Postell, Colby Orr, Thomas Wilson, Barry Curtis, Jimmy Mann, Terry Postell, Nate Smith and Pearly Owenby.
The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at Red Marble Baptist Church prior to the service.
Townson-Rose Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
