Adriene Copa Obituary

Adriene "Audrey" Copa nee Knoll age 91 of Northbrook. Beloved wife of the late Wilfred Copa since 1951. Loving mother of Kim (Brian) Bartlow and Kathy Copa. Dear grandmother of Tyler (Ashlee) Bartlow and Heather (Charlie) Terry. Cherished friend to many.

Audrey was born in Little Falls, Minnesota, a very small town 0f 6,000 people. It was there that she met the love of her life, Will, when she was 18 years old. They married when she was 19, and started their family shortly thereafter.

A few years later, she and Will moved to Chicago to be closer to all of her extended family. In 1969, they moved to Northbrook, Illinois with their two daughters, Kathy and Kim. They soon started their own paper business, Custom Converting Paper Company, which was happily successful for over 25 years.

In retirement, Audrey enjoyed traveling, including lengthy cross country road trips with Will throughout the United States and Canada. They really cherished their road trips. In addition, she and Will were brave enough to travel to Egypt, Dubai and Eastern and Southern Africa while in their 80s! She absolutely loved her experiences cruising on the Nile, walking amidst the pyramids and on safari.

She also treasured her times gardening and family gatherings. Audrey was the matriarch of her extended family, and she was the person everyone wanted to have time to "visit" with.

Day to day, Audrey cherished her times with her daughters, her son-in-law, Brian, her grandchildren, Tyler and Heather, and their spouses, Ashlee and Charlie. The closeness and love she shared with them meant everything to her.

Throughout her life, her love of her family and her dedication to her faith were always first and foremost. She was a very religious lady and drew great strength from her relationship with God and her belief in the power of prayer.

A visitation will be held between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 23rd at Kolssak Funeral Home at 189 S. Milwaukee Ave., (2 Blocks South of Dundee Road) Wheeling, IL.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother was such a vibrant, caring and joyful person. She had a smile on her face every time we spent time together. I remember how much we all enjoyed planning your safari to Africa and then seeing the photos after your return. I always loved her adventurous spirt. I´ve made a donation in Audrey´s name to Jane Goodall´s conservation efforts - so her great great grandchildren will have a chance to see everything she loved and appreciated in the wild. She was a GREAT lady and will be missed.
