Aileen Carroll Obituary

Aileen Carroll, of Western Springs, died Dec. 8 in LaGrange Memorial Hospital, after a long illness, beloved daughter of the late John Patrick Carroll (President of International Lumber Company) and Mary Noonan Carroll; dear sister of Jeanne Carroll (Dr. Harold M.) Kass and the late Loren Carroll (a distinguished American diplomat); she is also survived by MaryAnn (a lifetime caretaker). Aileen has been 35 years as a renowned educator in both the Chicago schools and western suburbs, as well as several years in New York City. She held degrees from the University of Chicago, Northwestern University and Dominican University, where she received a Masters in Library Science. She was a member of the American Library Association and the American Association of University Women. She was the first teacher to ever be named to the Board of the National Parent Teachers Association. She was included in the ''Who's Who of American Women'' for a completion of children's poetry. She traveled extensively throughout the world.
