Genevieve Bartyzel
August 8, 2019
Dear Gilman Family: Dr. Gilman took care of my mom, Genevieve Bartyzel, after her breast cancer surgery when she was in her 60's. She is now almost 92! I would like you all to know that she thought the world of him! Whenever the subject of doctors would come up, she would always bring up how intelligent he was and how much she appreciated his care. She thought he had the best bedside manner. Please accept our condolences and may it bring comfort to know that he was an important part of his patient's lives.
Sincerely, Karen (Genevieve Bartyzel's daughter)

Dr. Gilman was my mother's (Alice) oncologist for 15 years. I really credit him for the fact she outlived her diagnosis. He was a wonderful doctor!

I want Alan's family to know what a generous man he was. He did not know me, and yet, he helped me find a way so my brother, who has cancer, could afford his cancer medicine. My deepest condolences to you and yours and I thank him daily for helping our family.

Alan you were a life long friend, growing up across the street from each other and attending Luella and Bowen, then hooking up later in life as a neighbor in Highland Park. I will miss our breakfasts conversations together.

Alan has been a constant friend ever since I attended his 3rd birthday party. We played baseball in the streets, bowled and just hung out and talked. When we separated for college we reconnected summers and talked on the phone regularly. Later years, as our careers developed, we talked on the phone and double-dated occasionally on weekends. We never stopped talking and planned on meeting in Oakbrook for dinner at his favorite restaurant upon his return from Az.; I will miss my lifelong friend as I value his unwavering and unselfish support throughout our lives.
