Barbara was my devoted secretary twice in my career. She was witty, caring, loyal, and someone I will never forget. I loved her.

She was my secretary, twice in my career. Of course, she was a great secretary, but that's not the point. Just sharing time with her--and her sense of humor and caring--enhanced the quality of my life for many years that we collaborated. It is a cliché to say I miss her, but I do. And I'm filled with gratitude for having known her.

Aunt Bunny had a special relationship with "Pooter" (aka Basil), and when she stayed over at Amy's to dog-sit and I came to walk him, Aunt Bunny laughed hysterically as my dog Gulliver decided to "water" every "tree" in Amy's living room. Whenever I reminded her of it, she laughed out loud. She was wonderful and I miss her.

I was so saddened to hear of Aunt Bunny's death. She was a very dear person and she had a great sense of humor. One memory in particular that I have of her is seeing her coming down Kedzie Street to your home with a box of goodies from Maier's Bakery. I hope that the wonderful memories of Aunt Bunny will be a source of comfort to you. I will keep her in my prayers.
Love, Aunt Maureen

I thought of Barbara recently, as I often did. She was unique, in the best, enduring sense of that word. She changed my life in the early '60s; we were working, she as my secretary, at a failing magazine. She called a friend in New York on my behalf and that led to a job for me and a career in New York that lasted 18 years. When I returned to Chicago in the '80s, she became my secretary again at Chicago Magazine. How beneficial she was in keeping me sane during a trying time (various deaths of those close to me). Afterward, we met occasionally; her sweetness and her laughter always illuminated those meetings. She was a dear person, one who will linger in my memory as long as I'm alive. My fondness for her endures. I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling gratitude for being able to know her. Love to Barbara.

Also loving sister of the late Patricia Wilde (nee Jacobson, 1925-1996) and cherished aunt of the late Alexander B. Wilde (1960-1977). Barbara was very grateful to the staff of The Presbyterian Home of Evanston and Midwest Paliative and Hospice Care, as well as her nurses and doctors at Evanston Hospital. Her family greatly appreciates your kind thoughts!

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. It's comforting to know that God cares for all of us. The Bible gives us hope that one day we can see our loved ones again. On behalf of all mankind Jesus surrendered his soul. John 15:13 says “No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul on behalf of his friends.” Truly I am sorry to hear of the loss of your dear loved one and I hope these few words will bring you comfort and hope.
