Bernard Miller

1921 - 2017

Bernard "Bernie " Miller was born on September 12,1921 and died January 20,2017. He was born in Toronto, and became a United States Citizen after his Army service in World War II. He received three masters degrees from the University of Chicago and had a varied and interesting career including a television producer, stockbroker, and nightclub owner. Though most thought he would never settle down, at 60 he married Yolanda Lyon and they were married for thirty years until her death in 2010. They were the most devoted of couples. He is survived by his stepchildren Andrea Lyon (Arnold Glass), Rachel Lyon (Chris Brown), Erica Lyon (Mark Franklin) and Jonathan (Irma Martinez-Lyon); grandchildren Samantha, Jeremy, Brianna and Will; great grandson Phillip, as well as his sister Rochelle Goldman, his niece Jude Matthews and his nephew Adam Goldman. Bernie had a prodigious memory, an insatiable intellect, a love for Gustav Mahler and classic movies, and was quite the dancer. A Memorial Visitation will be held at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N Cicero Ave., Chicago at 10 a.m until noon Sunday January 29th.
