CARL BIERBAUER Obituary

Carl E. Bierbauer, 96, of Naperville, IL, at peace Feb. 12, 2012, born Feb. 10, 1916 in Chicago, IL, beloved husband of the late Edith M. Bierbauer; loving father of Jean Aquino and Paul (Maria) Bierbauer; cherished grandfather of Christopher (Melissa) and Michael (Dolores) Aquino; special great-grandfather of MaKenzie Aquino; devoted son of the late John and Theresa Bierbauer; dear brother of the late Josephine, Theresa, Lillian, John and Ray. Carl retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 1977 after more than 43 years of service. As Senior Vice President, he was responsible for Fiscal Agent functions, accounting and budgeting and all administrative services for eight years. He was one of the first Federal Reserve Officers to see the advantages of automated paer check processing. He worked with area bankers to create a smooth transition to magnetic ink character recognition. He represented the Chicago branch of the Federal Reserve Committee that implemented an updated version of the retirement plan. Additionally, he headed the preparation of a change over to a new method of accounting. Carl served in the US Army at the end of World War II. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 15, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St, Naperville, IL. Interment will be private. The picture of Uncle Carl and Aunt Edith was taken at a party at John and Barb's home. It was 2003. Their gifts of kindness and love have remained with me since I was very young.
