Carmelo J. Salamone, 83 years, Navy Veteran WWII. Beloved husband of Jean; devoted father of Carl E. (Diane), Joe (Letty), Donna (Steve) Gill and Barbara (Jack) Foster; cherished grandfather of 10; loving brother of Rose Elwardt, Carmella Esposito and the late Stella Marotta. Visitation Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. until time of prayers 10:30 a.m. at the Becvar & Son Funeral Home, 5539 West 127 St., Crestwood to Incarnation Church for a 11 a.m. Mass. His smile will never be forgotten!

I remember my uncle Carl as a strong, tough cigar smoking man. He drove a truck and loved chatting with my dad, Coloman. He liked working on cars and the best story I remember is when Coloman Stefchek, Bob Pritchard and Carl went fishing and they did not have a licence. The police came and Coloman and Carl took off and the police officer got Bob and he told the police officer that he wasn't the only one and that the other guys ran off down the road. Carl and my dad, Coloman, never let Bob forget it. I have lots of good memories of Christmas's on the farm in Demot, Indiana and all of the cookouts at my aunt Jean and uncle Carl's home. Although he lived big and strong, he always had a gentle side when it came to the kids. I could always walk up and give him a hug and a kiss no matter what he was doing. He was not just my uncle but my dad's best friend. He made my dad laugh over beer and card games. My dad would always talk about Carl and what a good man he was. I miss my dad and the stories he told, and now i will miss Carl as well but will always have the good memories of the two of them. And i know that they will laugh once again together in heaven.
