Catherine M. Mariella (nee Jakovich), 86, of Lake Forest, IL and Dana Point, CA passed away Oct. 11th, 2021. Her passing was sudden and unexpected. Born May 7, 1935, in Chicago, IL. She married Joseph Mariella in 1956, he preceded her in passing on Aug. 9th, 2011. Together they established M&M Box Partitions in 1968 in Chicago, IL.

Those of us that were fortunate enough to have known her understand what an impact she had on others- whether with a kiss and a hug or her radiant smile she could, literally, make your day. Her love of family was her greatest passion, and she was the matriarch of an ever expanding clan. Friendship, travel, reading, philanthropy and design were components of her full and varied life. As an active parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church, her faith was a pillar which she leaned upon during joyous and challenging times. Loving wife of Joseph Mariella; devoted mother of Cindy (Dave) Dziki, Frank (Beth) Mariella, Joe (Susan) Mariella, and George (Nick) Mariella; cherished grandmother of Jennifer (David) Ostmann, Joe (Liza) Dziki and Julie Dziki; Joey, Michael, Frankie, Christopher, Alia and Natalie Mariella; great-grandmother of Kathryn and Jack Ostmann, Emily Dziki, and Phoenix DeAndrea; daughter of the late George and Katherine Jakovich; dear sister of Mary, Marko (Lois), Joseph, George Jakovich, and Josie (Jakovich) Pakaski; caring aunt of 11 nieces, and 10 nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Oct. 15th at the Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Rd., Lake Forest, IL, 60045. Luncheon to follow at Francesca's Intimo in Lake Forest, IL. Entombment will be private at All Saints Mausoleum, Des Plaines, IL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Camp Hope of Illinois, P.O. Box 687, Lake Forest IL 60045. Z'Bbgom and blessings. Cindy, Jen and family, I am so sorry. I only met Granny a few times but thought she was a phenomenal woman. She´s the type of woman who you think will live forever. I loved hearing Jen´s stories of her vibrant life. May her memory be a blessing
