Chapin Barnard Obituary

Chapin Barnard, 85, of Bradenton, FL, at rest Sept. 27, 2012. Born in Toledo, OH, he grew up in Evanston with late brother Leland, and attended Evanston Township High School ('45) and the University of Michigan ('49), Phi Kappa Psi. He worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. and Continental Illinois Bank and lived in Caracas, Venezuela; Chicago; and Westport, Connecticut. Enchanted by Latin American culture, enthralled by genealogy, and excited by Wolverines football, he was, above all, a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by daughters, Frances Nunez and Helen Palaviccini; son Thomas; and grandchildren Miguel, Carlos, Ana, and Alberto. Graveside service, Graceland Cemetery, Oct. 3 at 10 a.m., arranged by Nelson Funeral Home, 773-561-5147. Memorial donations may be made to Historic Spanish Point, P.O. Box 846, Osprey, FL 34229.

I worked with Chapin Barnard in the 1960's when he was with the Latin American Div. of the International Banking Dept. at Continental Bank. I remember him well and enjoyed working with him. It's a long time ago, but we remember the good people in our lives.
