My parents lived next door to Boots & Marlene in the 1970s and 80s... Joe & Helen Friar. They were in their 70s and became very good friends with each other. Boots & Marlene kept an eye on my parents, which was very reassuring to me and my 4 sisters. Boots was a paramedic during that time and my two toddler daughters were very excited when he gave them a stethoscope! Their houses had a shared driveway on Shore Drive in Harvey, just east of Halsted. They had a couple little dogs too, I think schnauzers. I just came upon Boots' obit here, so hoping some of his family will enjoy a few of my memories of this very wonderful man who dedicated his life to public service. When my Dad had his fatal heart attack in Jan. 1979, Boots was one of the paramedics on that call to their house. My poor Mom... I'm glad he was there for her at that terrible time. Thank you Boots for helping out my parents during those years... just knowing he was close by in case they needed anything was a blessing for our family.

I am so sorry for our loss of dear Charlie. I have some wonderful memories, he was always kind, cheerful, funny, shared lots of stories,a wonderful friend to many of us. I will miss him a lot. I always hoped to visit soon, time went by too quickly. I hope all the memories comfort his family and friends, he is smiling and resting in peace now. I will always be grateful for having the immense blessing of knowing Charlie. My sincere condolences to Marlene.

So many great memories at Daley's Ambulance with Boots. He helped me become a Paramedic in 1977, and I worked with him on and off until I moved in 1981. He was a wonderful and kind man. God Bless him and his family, so sorry for your loss.

God rest Charlie in peace. We will keep his family in our prayers. We are especially honored for his service as a police officer at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). I first found out about Charlie and the special things he was doing to entertain the sick children at the UIC Hospital. Thank you Charlie and God rest you in peace.
