Chrisula Banakis nee Karnegis. Beloved wife of James. Loving mother of Alexandra (George) Mandelaris, and Sophia and George Banakis. Proud grandmother of Ariana and Anastasia Mandelaris. Devoted daughter of the late Peter and Alexandra Karnegis. Dear sister of Theodora (Howard) Goldman. Sister-in-law of Chris (Gayle), Theodore (Karen), and Mark (Renee) Banakis. Chrisula was a member of Holy Apostles Ladies Philoptochos. Visitation Sunday from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Russo's Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Hillside, IL 60162 (Between Mannheim and Wolf Road). Family and friends will meet Monday morning at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church 2501 South Wolf Road, Hillside, IL 60162 for funeral service at 10:00am. Interment Chapel Hil Gardens West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Holy Apostles Church would be appreciated. For additional info please call (708) 449-5300.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Chrissy was a breath of fresh air and it was a real privilege to have known her and to care for her. I considered her a friend and loved seeing the joy in her eyes when she spoke of her husband, her children and her grandchildren. She will be missed terribly.

She was like our grade's room mom at Holy Apostles. Always there to lend a hand, she made the stefana for my brother's wedding. A beautiful mom, wife and woman. She will be greatly missed.
