Daniel Ogata Obituary

Rev. Daniel Ichiro Ogata, 95, passed away Monday September 29, 2014 in Grinnell, Iowa. A memorial service will be held Sunday October 12 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1025 Fifth Avenue in Grinnell. Rev. Ogata was born August 9, 1919, in Stockton, California. He relocated to Chicago after WWII and became active in Church of Christ Presbyterian, which initially met at Fourth Presbyterian Church. While attending McCormick Seminary, he served Church of Christ as a student pastor. After receiving a M. Div. in 1958, he served Presbyterian churches in Iowa and Minnesota. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Lynn; step-daughters, Georgianna and Jennifer; step-sons, Todd and Christopher; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother, James; and his sister, Dorothy Inouye.
