I had just moved to Chicago from LA in 1985. I was still fairly new in AA with only 2 years of sobriety, alone and in a new city. I met David in one of my first AA meeting there. He immediately made me feel welcome and treated me as an old friend. In short he was a friend when I desperately needed a friend. That was the kind of guy he was. I will always remember his goodness and kindness.

David let me know it would "all be alright" at a time in my life I wasn't too sure it was. He was a mentor, a friend, a confidant, and an inspiration.
Thank you for being there for me!
