Dennis Charles McDonald, 72, - loving father, brother, friend, fisherman, Moose Club officer, Highland Park's most-requested plumber - entered eternal rest on September 2, 2021. Dennis was born on April 8, 1949 in Highland Park, Illinois. He is survived by his children Shawna McDonald of San Francisco, California and Bobby McDonald of Chicago, Illinois; partner Leah Carlsen of Highland Park, Illinois; former wife Terri Ori of Gulfport, Florida; sister Mary (Michael) Kearney of Elgin, Illinois; sister Kathleen McDonald of St. Clair Shores, Michigan; sister Joan (Michael) Brennock of Chicago, Illinois, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who cared about him deeply. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents William "Ed" and Leonella "Nell" McDonald and his older brother William "Bill" McDonald, all of Highland Park, Illinois. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 1-5 p.m. at Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Rd. Highland Park. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 770 Deerfield Rd. Highland Park. Interment River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Dennis had three granddogs who he loved very much. All came into the family from animal rescue organizations. As an old friend of Dennis's from long, long ago, my most heartfelt condolences to his family and to his sisters, Kathleen, Mary and Joan. He was a great guy always and very special to me during a part of my young life. I am glad he was a part of my life's journey

I have a lot of fond memories of my Uncle Dennis <3 He sure was a sun-shiney force of light when I was a girl, always happy to see me, always ready to laugh together, and we did! He shared a great sense of humor with me, thank God I had a good person like him in my life when I was growing up <3 rest in peace Uncle Dennis <3 my sincere sympathy to Shawna, Bobby & family peace be with you all.

So sorry to hear of Dennis passing. We went to Highschool together and was one of my favorite home room buddies. Later brother Bill and Dennis helped us out of many heating and plumbing jams. The best part of needing a plumber was having Dennis show up. He was a wonderful guy. May the loving memories you shared bring you much peace in the coming years
