Edward Harker Sr.

1935 - 2023

Edward Harker, Sr. passed away on November 20, 2023. Born in 1935, Ed grew up in Evanston, Illinois with his brother Bob and sister Barbara.

In 1959 he married Patricia. They enjoyed a 52-year romance and a wonderful love-filled life together, raising a family of three children. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially on engines of any kind, and working on his model train layout. He also enjoyed building model boats and airplanes. Ed and Patricia lovingly welcomed seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

After Patricia passed away in 2011, Ed moved from their home in Evanston to Wilmette, where he continued making friends. People always liked Ed - he was warm and friendly. There he met Joan, and she captured his heart. He was fortunate to have found a second great love of his life.

After Joan passed away in 2021, Ed made his home in Chicago and continued building models. He enjoyed listening to his favorite music from the 1950's, going to see vintage car shows, and visits from his nurse, Margaret, who became a good friend to him.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Joseph, his brother Bob, wife Patricia, daughter Anna, and dear partner Joan. He is survived by his sister, Barbara, his children Gail (Dave) and Ed Harker, Jr. (Celia), son-in-law Roy, grandchildren Stephen, Jeffrey, Matt, Michael, Nicholas, Leah, Lily, and great grandson Grant.

Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 4th, 2023, at St. Catherine Laboure Church, 3535 Thornwood Ave, Glenview, IL. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM followed by Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM. Interment private.
