Edward Matousek Obituary

Edward Matousek, Energy Consultant/Entrepreneur, died peacefully at his home in La Grange Park at 94. Ed is survived by his wife Joyce (to whom he was devoted for over 75 years); his three children and their spouses: Jill and Steve Turner, Lynn and Steve Gambill, and Mark Matousek and Melinda Paterson; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Born in Chicago in 1921, he graduated from University of Illinois with a degree in electrical engineering, and attended the Naval Academy in 1943. Ed married Joyce Vileta in 1943. After serving in the war as a Lieutenant, Ed became head of engineering for International Minerals and Chemicals. He founded Energy Systems Engineers, developed the first gas pipeline in NM and owned the High Country Inn ski lodge in Winter Park, CO. He found great pleasure in telling his jokes and stories and making people laugh. He was a profoundly happy person as seen in his kind, joyful and impish spirit. His wit and wisdom guided his friends and family. His memorial service will be Jan. 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at Plymouth Place, 315 N. La Grange Rd, La Grange Park, IL. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer's Association.
