Elizabeth Swartz Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Swartz, age 62, Loving Daughter to her late parents Claire Swartz and Morton Swartz, dear sister to John Swartz of Petersburg, Illinois and beloved fiancée to Rick Rashman of Barrington Hills, Illinois. Elizabeth grew up and lived in Highland Park, Illinois, moved to California, and later had a farm in downstate Petersburg, Illinois. Elizabeth was an artist, photographer, and nature lover. She had studied painting and photography at the Art Institute of Chicago. Elizabeth raised, bred and showed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and later she raised goats. The Cavaliers won many dog shows and were often the subject of her paintings and photographs. Elizabeth had traveled to England to acquire her breeding line. She was highly respected among the Cavalier owners and was sought out for her advice long after they had been sold. Elizabeth loved life, animals and people. A memorial service to celebrate Elizabeth's life will be held Sunday April 12th, 2015 at 1:00PM at Congregation Beth Am at 1370 Abbott Court, Buffalo Grove, Illinois. Dear Elizabeth, Our 50th Reunion from Highland Park High School will be this August 2020 and I know a lot of people will miss you. Cannot believe that the years of your passing continue to be painful. What a great friend you were to me and my family. You always will remain in my heart. I hope you are seeing that I am taking care of dogs and many times as I am walking them, I think about the great times I had with you with all your dogs. You would be amazed how many breeds there are. Cannot keep up with the different types. Cavalier King Charles are still my favorite! You were the first person to bring them into our neighborhood. I remember people always asking what kind of breed they were. God Bless you my friend and know that you are truly missed and I pray for you on a daily basis.

I recently learned of Elizabeth's death recently. She was such a giving and warm woman. I bought one of her cavalier's - Zards Frida - who is now 13 1/2 years old. I met Elizabeth with 13 of her dogs around her and Frida picked me. Frida is now failing but has been the best dog. Elizabeth truly cared about this breed. I also bought a painting she did of Frida so once Frida also crosses over, I will have a memory of both Frida and Elizabeth. Sure wish you were here to talk to. Love, Suzanne

Dear Elizabeth, To this day I still miss you!
I'm hoping that you are watching over me as I walk dogs each day. This has been a tough winter with ice/snow! Not fun for either the dogs or anyone walking them for that matter. I pray that you are at peace. You are surely missed. With much love, your friend, Linda Iovino

I just learned of the passing of Elizabeth and express my condolences to the family. I was able to obtain a beautiful little ruby boy that we named Rudy from Elizabeth back in 2000. Elizabeth was so kind and helpful getting him settled into our home with great advice. He was such a joy to our family and we are so grateful that Elizabeth made that possible. I'm sorry for your loss of such a great sister and friend.

Dear Rick, John, Family and Friends of Elizabeth,
Please know that you are all in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. We met Elizabeth at a Dog Show many years ago when she was showing her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and we out Pugs. We remained friends all these years and often spoke about our beloved dogs. She was an extremely talented artist and photographer and one of the kindest and most generous people we have ever known. We will miss her very much.
Sincerely,

Elizabeth was a dear friend and shared her artistic skills with me. Took me to the Art Museum in Chicago, we ate Chinese food and laughed, had fun. Always remembered my birthday, it was the same day as her Mothers.
I miss her.

Elizabeth was not only gifted artistically but she also was the kindest, most caring individual I've ever known. The world is less bright without her in it. God Bless. Darcy Long

I am so so sad to hear about Elizabeth. She was such a gifted artists, and so respected in the Cavalier and rescue community. I look at a painting from her every day hanging in my house. I will miss our lunches and discussions on so many different topics.

I am so sad to hear of Elizabeth's passing. I've known her for almost 8 years; I met her when I got my first Cavalier from her. She taught me everything I know about raising dogs naturally, and I really enjoyed all of our conversations over the years. She was so interesting to talk to, full of advice, and so patient with my daily calls after I got my first dog. I always relied on her for any questions I had about my boys, and she was more than happy to help me with whatever I needed. She cared about all of her animals so much; I admire her dedication to them along with all of the ones she rescued. She will be missed by many...

I grew up on Pleasant Avenue, down the street from Liz, and we were friendly all through elementary, Jr. high and high school. I ran into her a few years ago in town and she was as warm and lovely as always. Such a shame to read of her passing at such a young age. My condolences to all her family.
