Ferd was a man of many talents with a "plain folk" demeanor. He was a chemical engineer at Western Electric with an expertise in plating (as in electro-plating) and, when business conditions prompted a change in direction, he became a skilled programmer on AT&T´s very sophisticated electronic telephone switching product. But there´s more! He was a home handyman not afraid to take on any project. A favorite memory is the day I offered to help him with an "electrical project" at his old family home. I walked in to see fixtures, switches, and outlets all removed and newly installed wiring hanging out of the openings. Wow!!! This was a major re-wiring! We worked together and it was a great experience. Jane and I know Ferd (and Ann) from our mutual single days to the present. I was part of Ferd's wedding and he applied his photography skills to produce an album of our wedding that rivals the professional pictures. We now value that album as a memento of Ferd as well as of our wedding. Ferds´s family has lost a loving husband and father. Jane and I have lost a good friend.
