Florence Fink

1923 - 2016

Florence Waze Fink was born Dec 26, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Sam Waze and the late Belle Cashwan Waze. She passed away from complications of dementia on Oct 26, in her room surrounded by some of the art that she created during her lifetime as an artist in Chicago. Florence is survived by her husband, Jack, to whom she was married for 72 years. She was preceded in death by her brother, Herbert Nathaniel Waze. Florence was a loving mother to her children, Steven (Lisa) Fink, Leslie (Steve) Friedlander, Carol (Mike) Pratt and Abbie Galvin. She leaves seven grandchildren: Shaina, Gabriel, Emma, Adrian, Sam, Julian, Noah and many nieces and nephews. Florence and Jack moved to Chicago in 1949 where she became an artist of note, working in watercolor, oil and silk screen. She was proud to have been represented at the Art Institute of Chicago's Art Rental and Sales Gallery and to have worked with the Evanston Art Center, the Figurative Art league and her many appearances at the Old Orchard Art Festival. Florence loved classical music and dance. She inspired her children and grandchildren to express themselves in the fine arts.
