Frances Bradbury Obituary

Bradbury, Frances Johnson (Deedee) Frances (Deedee) Johnson Bradbury, 93 of Lawrenceville, GA., died May 03, 2011. Frances, the daughter of Helen and Carl Johnson, was born in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up in Evanston, Illinois, where she attended Evanston High School. She received her bachelor degree from Smith College in 1939. Deedee and Wilburn (Bill) Bradbury married and raised their two sons in Northbrook, Illinois. During the boys school years she served on the Board of Education and later earned a Master of Library Science at Rosary College. She was the Director of the Northbrook Public Library, where she cherished her work and involvement in the community. She touched many lives and was well respected throughout Northbrook and the entire Northshore. Frances was nominated for Northshore Woman of the Year. She served as a Director on the Board of the Northbrook Historical Society for two years and President for 6 years before moving to Atlanta. Many programs that were started during her tenure are still in place today. Affectionately known as Deedee, she had many hobbies and talents including sewing, cooking, reading, and gardening. However, her greatest passion was skiing with her family in Taos, New Mexico and enjoying the culture of the southwest. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and her sister, Molly. Survivors include her Sons and Daughters-in-Law: Pete and Ann Bradbury, Bill and Claudia Bradbury; Grandchildren; Emily Bradbury Seamone, Amy Bradbury Burke, Tiffany Bradbury, William Bradbury and Beth Bradbury Dodson as well as four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2011 at St. Simons Episcopal Church 1522 Hwy 138N Conyers, GA. with Rev. Daniel Crockett officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Northbrook Historical Society, 1776 Walters Ave., PO Box 2021, Northbrook, IL 60065-2021 Arrangements by Bill Head Funeral Home and Crematory Duluth Chapel 770-476-2535.
