Fred Ackerman

Fred Ackerman, age 92, died on February 5, 2022. He was the loving brother of Roberta "Penny" (Michael) Ellman; adored uncle of Bruce Ellman and Carol Ellman MD (Brett MD) Vassallo; and proud great uncle of Benjamin, Charles, John, and Lydia. He was the loving son of the late Gertrude, nee Krask and Jack Ackerman. Fred was a Chicago Public School Teacher for over 40 years and an active member, supporter, and officer of the Chicago Teachers Union. He was an Army veteran serving in Germany during the Cold War. Fred was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. In Fred's memory, support teachers, their union, and read a history book to a child. Service Wednesday 11am in the chapel of Westlawn Cemetery and Mausoleum, 7801 W. Montrose Avenue, Norridge, where interment will follow.
