Fred Akard 1926-2018 Fred was born in Chile on November 4, 1926, to American parents there for a business venture in mining. The family returned to Texas where Fred would spend the majority of his childhood. After admirably serving in the Armed Forces, Fred decided to pursue his love of Art, graduating from the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago. He spent the next 40 years of his life forming a visually focused art production manufacturing company, serving clients worldwide. Petites Choses was built on Fred's genius interpretation of color and form, unique to his artistic vision and ability. We lost a true artistic genius on June 2, 2018, leaving the world one less visual master, and his family and friends with an emptiness in their hearts. Fred was a man who loved Chicago, he was a visionary, entrepreneur, family member, and friend who has no replacement. We love you, and your beautiful visions will live on in your art forever. With love, thankfulness, and unparalleled admiration. - Your friends and Family. Memorial will be private. Donations can be made to Paws Chicago in honor of his beloved dachshunds.

I was Blessed to meet Fred in 1993. His youthful spirit and kindness was clear to all who met him. Like all who enjoyed his company, libations, great conversation and dining were the regular occurrences. His wisdom will always remain in my heart. A great big smile and hug awaits all who join him in eternity's glory . GODSPEED my Brother..RHS and Family

Fred was a dear friend to my Uncle Evert. I was lucky enough to get to know him and visit his lovely home a couple of times. Since my uncle died, I have kept in touch with Fred thru Christmas cards and an occasional phone call. My home is filled with his beautiful artwork and I treasure each and every one. He was truly a special man!

Fred was one of the most creative individuals I have ever known. I worked in my Uncle"s flower shop, I would go to the gift shows with my Uncle Med. Med and Fred became good friends over the years .I use to purchase from Petite Choses for many years. He always came up with wonderful ideas. He had such a great eye for details. He was a genius! He will be missed.
WE do hope that all the wonderful fond memories you have of him will help you console you.
Rest in peace Fred,
Love ya,
