I just received news of Fred's passing, and I wanted to extend my sincere condolences to Dorothy, his children, Mark, Mary, and Michael, and his beloved grandchildren. I lived next door to the Brinskelles for many years, and I have only the fondest memories of Fred as a neighbor, and, as we both aged, as a friend. The kindnesses he extended to me became dearer and more appreciated over the years. He shared his family with me, and I always enjoyed the summer trips we took to picnic and go swimming at Grays Lake. Fred and Dorothy gave me one of my first paying jobs as a baby sitter for their children, and later, Fred helped me get one of my first "real" jobs at Coke which was a help in paying tuition at DePaul University during my undergraduate years.
He seemed to always enjoy life and the blessings that his wife, his children and grandchildren brought him. I know he was proud of his kids and grandkids, and seemed to appreciate his wife even more as the years passed on. He could be serious but was also able to laugh at some of the silly things we did as people, neighbors and co-workers at Coke.
Fred served his family, his church, his community, and his country, and was especially proud of the time he served as a Marine during the Korean War. The world is a poorer place without him. He played an important part in my life, and I will miss him deeply.
