George F. Jungels, age 84, of Oak Brook, IL, Purple Heart recipient, beloved husband of the late Bette, nee Rebito; loving father of Deanne (John) Steinmetz and Steven Jungels; proud grandfather of Dr. Gina (Bruce) Woodford and Robert Zirpoli III; great-grandfather of Andrew and Daphne Woodford; loving son of the late George B. and Harriet Jungels, nee Boy; dear brother of Wilbur, late Loretta Siciliano, Harrietta
Johnson, Howard Jungels and Edgar Jungels. Visitation will be at the Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd., Westchester (2 blks W. of Mannheim Rd.) on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Family and friends will be received at the Elmhurst Presbyterian Church, 367 Spring Rd., Elmhurst, IL on Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Entombment Oakridge Cemetery. Memorials would be appreciated to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Former proprietor of Jolly Jungels Dry Cleaners of Oak Park, IL. I cried when I saw George's obituary. My husband and I were good friends of Bette and George. And we couldn't have better friends. We met when we all lived in North Austin. I'm thinking now of bridge games, religious discussions, their sponsering me for Walk to Emmaus, a trip to the lake, their parties, and fun arguing with George. He'd take one side of an issue and I the other. I can't recall the subjects or how any of those discussions turned out, but I recall he was good at stating his side of the subject--even though, of course, I was always right!
