George L. Rath, age 87, of Elmhurst, resident of Lexington Square, Army Staff Sargent during WWII, V.F.W. Chaplain, beloved husband of Irene, nee Matzko, for over 66 years; loving father of Janet (Robert) Anderson and Barbara

(Richard) Powell; proud grandfather of Bryan (Megan) Anderson, Amy Rich and Laura and Kelly Powell; cherished great-grandfather of Isaac Rich; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Visitation Thursday 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday, 8:45 a.m. until time of funeral 9:45 a.m., at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road (1/2 mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Interment Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, River Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 525 W. Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60661.
