Dr. Gerald P. Scanlon, beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty", nee Collins; loving father of Kevin, Lisa (Andy) Peterson, Timothy and the late Meg; dear grandfather of Conor, Meg, Katie, Drew and Thomas; fond brother of John (Marge) Scanlon and Maureen (Joseph) Shaughnessy. Visitation Monday 3 to 8 p.m. at Gibbons Elliston Funeral Home, First and Grant Sts., Hinsdale. Family and friends to meet Tuesday at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 S. Wolf Rd., Western Springs, for 9:45 a.m. Mass. Interment Bronswood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dr. Gerald P. Dear Betty and Family,
I was surprised and very saddened to learn of Gerry's passing. I was a patient of his for about 40 years and he never failed to greet me by my first name and with a big smile that always put me at ease. He knew that I suffered from Crohn's disease all my life and always inquired about my health and was kind and encouraging when things weren't going well. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. I hope his practice is kept going. He had a great staff.

Our deepest sympathy to Dr. Scanlon's family and also his staff. My boyfriend has been a patient of Dr. Scanlon's for over 40 years and recommended him to me when I moved to Chicago. He was a true gentleman who loved his profession and will be greatly missed.

My sister and I are so sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Scanlon. We have been patients of his for the past 25+ years and will miss him terribly. What a wonderful man he was with his welcoming smile and caring manner. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.

To the Scanlon Family, I was deeply saddened to come across the notice of Dr. Gerry's passing. We were neighbors of the senior Scanlons on Honore Street for many years and I believe I attended all three children's weddings as a young girl. Tho my family moved away long ago and both my parents are now also gone, the memories of watching a wonderful family reach maturity and begin their own families remains strong. All such kind people, your family made a strong impression on me. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

To The Scanlon Family,
My parents were patients of Dr Scanlon for over 40 year before they passed and I have been a patient for over 30 years. He was one of the few individuals that always knew your name and where you worked and always made you feel like one of the family. His dental work was always top notch and every other dentist from the Army that checked me out was always amazed at the quality of the work.
He will be deeply missed.

Dear Mrs. Scanlon & Family,
Our prayers are with you at this difficult time as our family was so sorry to hear of his passing. I have been a patient of Dr. Scanlon for over 37 years, since I was 5 years old and once I married and having my own children my family had the opportunity to have him as their dentist. He was such a wonderful and caring person and had always put my kids at ease and they really looked foward to their dental visits. He had that special quality of kidness that is not easily found. Dr. Scanlon was our dentist for over 20 years before we moved to Florida in 1990. We have yet to find a nicer one. He was a wonderful man. Our sympathy to his family. He will be missed.

Dr. Scanlon was our dentist for over 20 years before we moved to Florida in 1990. We have yet to find a dentist we liked as well and doubt we ever will. He was truly a wonderful man. Our deepest sympathy.

We were so sorry to hear about Dr. Scanlon. I have so many happy memories of staying at your house (on Fairfield and in Hinsdale) years ago and playing with Meg & Kevin. One particular memory stands out when Dr. Scanlon was helping Meg and me ice skate. I was so bad I pulled both of them down on the ice (I still can't skate!) The happy memories will get you through this difficult time.
