Reverend Godfrey R. Poage, C.P.

Reverend Godfrey R. Poage, 81, Congregation of the Passion, passed away June 25, 2001, at the Passionist Monastery. Father was a native of Des Moines, Iowa, a Passionist for 61 years, a priest for 55 years. Father Poage was a very active preacher of retreats and missions throughout his life. He was Consultor, Secretary and Director of the Pontifical Office for Religious Vocations in Rome from 1957 to 1967. Father Poage is survived by his religious community; by his brother, Raymond Poage of Omaha, Nebraska; and by many nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, from 4 until 9 p.m. at the Passionist Monastery, 5700 N. Harlem Avenus, Chicago, with Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, Harlem and Talcott Avenues. Mass 10 a.m. Interment All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
