Gregory Kmoch Obituary
Gregory Charles, age 33, of Lombard, died suddenly on 2/20/14. He leaves behind to mourn his beloved parents, Charles and Alice (Fiedler), his dear brother, Jeffrey, his sweet sister-in-law, Megan Mayberry, and his adored nieces, Carina Mayberry-Kmoch and Matilda. He is also survived by his loving Uncle Joe and fond Aunts Carol, Susan, Judy and Janice, several cousins and many, many friends, especially TK, Kristen and Dante. Greg was gentle, kind, and generous but also a fierce and proud Marine. He will be missed terribly by all of those whose lives he touched in so many special ways. Cremation services are being handled by Knollcrest Funeral Home in Lombard. A memorial will be held for Greg in June. I will remember you always the times I laughed so hard when I kept asking you to show me how that exercise works again and you patiently did them until you caught on that I was being lazy. When we sparred during work outs and I hit your nose and made it bleed I was mortified but you just laughed and said nice right hook! I will remember it all you helped me not only get fit physically during that time but you were there for me in so many other ways. I will miss you so and that devilish grin, indeed always in my heart Mr. Greg!

I still can't wrap my head around the loss of Greg. I'm so blessed to have known him. There's so much I want to tell him. The last time we exchanged messages was for the Marine Corps birthday. Everything I ever learned about the Marines, I learned from Greg. Every November 10, I will still remember. Every June 6, I will still remember. I'm eternally grateful for the wonderful friendship. I will never ever forget. God bless all the Kmochs, Chuck, Alice, Jeff, Megan, Carina, (Matilda), Uncle Joe, and all the others.

I find it very difficult to say goodbye to such a great young man as Greg, he was a Martial Arts student of mine for several years, demonstrating courage, determination and a very positive attitude, always carrying a smile and the first one to pitch in to assist anyone needing assistance. I was truely blessed having known Greg. He was always such an inspiration. He was my brother in Kenpo. We Trained together in Addison. He was always there to help and mentor those around him. When we met, my first thoughts of Greg were... what an incredible young man, his momma sure raised him right. Thank you to his family for sharing such a great person with the world. Fred and I knew Greg his entire life. We watched him grow from his early years to adulthood, and witnessed his transformation into a handsome, intelligent, thoughtful, funny, and kind man. Dear Chuck,Alice and Family,
I can not even begin to tell you how much your son meant to my daughters and I in the last 9 years. He was there for us during our darkest hours, and the brightest days. I can't think of a time when he didn't touch our lives. From coaching with me, and teaching the team to spit sunflower seeds in the dugout, and doing the wave from the coaches bench, to giving my girls the courage to know that nobody would ever be ever to over power them because he taught them to defend themselves.
He was a dear friend, a beloved confidant. A gentleman in the truest sense of the word. A credit to his name, his country, and a friend to the end. I honestly don't know what we will do with out him. What my family will do with out him. The world is definately a dimmer place with out him in it, and the stars shine ever so much brighter to know that he is in them. I will miss him every day, remember him fondly, and await the time that he and I can pull practical jokes on each other once again.
I can't imagine what you his family are going through, as I am suffering so much and I was only his friend. If there is anything I can do, please don't hesitate to reach out. All of you did so much for the girls and I. I would be happy to help. We considered you to be family as well.
