Herbert Compton Obituary

Herbert D. Compton

Herbert D. Compton, age 81, died peacefully from a sudden illness Sunday, September 28, 2014. He was born February 18, 1933 in Davenport, Iowa the son of the late Walter and Leona (Farley) Compton. Herb raised his family in the Green Bay, WI area. He was a successful business man his whole life, retiring from Mayflower Corp. in Tucson, AZ in the early 90's and living there till 2004. Herb returned to Green Bay, WI where he spent his final years with his family.

Dad was an advocate for conservatism in America. He enjoyed spending hours talking with friends and family about conservative principles.

Dad was an avid outdoorsman's. He taught his children the finer techniques of hunting and fishing. Herb enjoyed visiting many hunting camps, and loved listening to the hunting stories.

Herbert is survived by his sister, Patricia Diercks; four sons, Craig and Joan (Adamski), Steve and Terri (Natzke), Jeff and Mary (Schillcox), and Scott Compton; five stepchildren, Frank & Lynn Goza, Tom Goza, Susan (Goza) and Eric Estes, Michael & Holly Goza, and Jeff Goza; eleven grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by; wife, Zona (Goza) Compton.

A private memorial will be held on Wednesday October 1, 2014. A memorial for friends and family to honor Herb's memory will be announced in a few months as per Herb's wishes.

Herb worked at Kachina Mayflower for many years in sales. He was very good with all of the customers and a hard worker. When he reetired many years ago he looked forward to traveling. Herb was a great guy and I enjoyed working with
