JAMES CRONIN Obituary

James Cronin, born in 1932, of Theresa Brichetto and Timothy James Cronin and brother of John Cronin. It is with deepest sadness that the Cronin Family of Chicago announces that James passed peacefully on April 22 surrounded by his wife of 56 years, Jane, nee Jacobson; his daughters Mary (Philip Kotek), Constance (Keith Konrath), Adrienne (Ronald Bibby); and his two sons Daniel and Martin. He is also fondly remembered by grandchildren Benjamin, Neil, Emily, Kendall, Tony, Mackenzie, Georgiana, Alexandra, Erik, Julian and great-grand daughter Chloe Nicole. He was a life-long resident of Lakeview, Chicago and was very involved in the civic life of the city he loved so well. He gave extraordinary work and philanthropic support in the fight to end autism in children. He was so enjoined to this cause that he pre-arranged for his tissue to be donated to autism research. 'Jim' is a graduate of St. Andrew School (1946); DePaul Academy H.S. (1950); and Marquette University (1954). He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army (1950-54) and also lived in Munster, IN (1962-66), Lansing, IL (1967-90), and Bloomington, IL (1998-2003). He was a warm, kind, generous, hard-working man, deeply beloved by his family and he will be fondly remembered by all whom he touched. Memorial service will be at St. Andrew Church, 3546 N. Paulina, Chicago on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to visit with the family before the Mass may drop by the church a bit early. The service will be followed by a dinner at a nearby restaurant. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation for grandson Erik Bibby to 'Erik's Fund' c/o Adrienne Bibby of 2323 S. Lake Dr., League City, TX 77573-2812 or Halo, P.O. Box 303399, Austin, TX 78703, (www.halo-soma.org) in honor of Erik Bibby.

Dear Cronin Family,
I work for the Will County Land Use Department. Mr. Cronin was always in our office to pick up permits. I just would like you to know I am deeply sorry for your loss. Mr. Cronin was one of my favorite people to wait on, he never had a harsh word and always had a tid-bit of knowledge and a funny story. I also know that he was extremely prode of his family, he was always talking about all you.

Sincerely,

To The Cronin Family,
Mr. Cronin was my Guidance Counselor and Football Coach at DePaul Academy 1960-1961. He taught and coached by example. I remember his stories about driving a milk truck during summer vacation. Later, I had the privilege of working with his brother John and his nephew Tim on the Chicago Fire Department. My Prayers and thoughts are with you. Thank you.

Sorry to hear about JIM. As a long time friend, (St Andrews 1945 & DePaul 1949), We had similar experiences. Living half my life on the North side & half on the South Side. Due to a Job change, I moved my family South to Homewood (7 Kids) in 1972.
When you moved back North to Belmont Ave, Jim showed up at the Paulina-Hermitage luncheon reunion and we did reminisce about the old days. The Lakeview neighborhood, playing ball in the schoolyards (Hamilton) & many DePaul storys.(Especially how Tom O'brien & football turned his hair GREY).
He was just a WONDERFULL GUY!!!!
He will be Missed.
