Memories and Condolences

My sincere condolences to the family who has lost far too soon a loving husband, father, son and brother. James Hodapp Jr was my cousin.

My remembrance is one of him attending a Hodapp Family Reunion in Minnesota where the Hodapps are a pioneer family of Blue Earth County MN.

The family reunion of late 1970s that I'm remembering included a mass at the old Catholic church in St. Clair MN where Father Paul Hodapp was the pastor for many years, and the church grounds include the Hodapp family plot, the resting place of many generations of Hodapps. At the mass, I recall James Jr, as a young boy, sitting in a pew toward the front of the church with his parents and brothers. They made a very distinct impression sitting in the rural church having come from the city.

After mass, the family gathered on the old Victorian farm of Henry Hodapp, our great-grandfather, who was a Minnesota State Representative in 1919. I was raised on another neighboring farm in an old farmhouse lived in for many generations by our family.

I was raised on the Minnesota farm, but I've lived my adult life in Chicago and on Lake Shore Drive for over twenty years.

I am so sorry to hear that Jim is gone. I had not seen him since high school, but we had kept in touch and messaged each other a few times over the past few years. Although he will be missed and fondly remembered, he is never gone. His greater purpose has called him and now he is on his way to fulfill it. It was a great pleasure to know him here.

I will always remember the hilarious and good times we had from junior high through our early twenties. Jimmy was thoughtful and and kind hearted, truly one of a kind. We caught up a few years ago and it was great to understand how fulfilled he was with his life. My prayers go out to your family.

To my baby sister who is the kindest person I know and to my QEP! I am so sorry for your loss. I would take your pain if I could. And to Sharon, Danny, and Dougie I prayed that your sorrow will soon pass. Jim is now with his dad and the best part about this is we will see him again. This is truly in gods hands! There are no words for me to express how I feel about your loss!
