James D. Maher of Joliet and formerly of Orland Park and Chicago, IL, age 67, passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on Sunday March 28, 2021.

Jim was born January 18, 1954 in Chicago, IL to Annette (Stasiak) and Robert Maher.

Jim married Sharon Zagotta January 25, 1976. Along with Sharon, he is survived by his children, Kristin Maher, Lorien & Eric Carley, James Maher, Meaghan Maher, and Joseph Maher, his granddaughters, Elinor Carley and Chloe Clark, his siblings, Joseph and Gail Maher, Katherine and Mark Juppe, Paula Maher, Roberta and Ron Goldie, and William Maher.

Jim was a network solutions architect, technology systems consultant, and small business owner whose hobbies included woodworking and carpentry - particularly cabinetry, literature and book collecting, musical theory and guitar playing, gardening and landscape design, and gourmet cooking for his family.

I have as many memories of Jimmy as leaves on a tree, and they're all great. Jack and I send our prayers and hugs to Sharon and all the Mahers. Special hugs to his siblings who I've known since diapers, and I can't imagine your loss.

I have nothing but great memories of Jim in grade school. He was a truly great kid who obviously grew into an amazing man. My deepest sympathies to his beloved family
