Jay Northam Whipple Jr, beloved husband for 48 years of Anne Reisse Whipple, passed away on September 18, 2018 at his home in Lake Forest, Il with family at his side. Jay was born in 1933 to the late Jay Northam Whipple and Marjorie Cox Cordray in Lake Forest, Il. Jay was raised in Lake Forest, graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, Yale University, and Northwestern Business School. He was stationed in the army at Ft Carson, Colorado Springs, Co. His first wife was Carol Coffey Swift of Lake Forest. He is lovingly remembered by his three surviving children, step-son, and surviving spouses: Jay N Whipple III and his wife Kimberly Gladding Whipple, of Boca Grande, Fl; Elizabeth Whipple McKenna of New York, NY; William C. Whipple of Union, WV; and Whitson McNulty of Hebron, Il. He was predeceased by his beloved step-son Phillip McNulty and daughter Annabelle Lee. He is survived by 11 grand-children and 10 great-grandchildren. Avid collector of many genres including antique radios, tvs, electronic instrumentation. Partner, Bacon, Whipple & Co. 1960-1982. Senior Advisor, Osprey Partners 1978-1996. Life long Trustee of the Adler Planetarium. Coach, mentor, and competitor on the paddle courts and life. Memorial Service was held at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Adler Planetarium Development, 1300 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Il 60605 to "Inspire exploration and understanding of the universe."
