Jeffrey Roland Chicoine, 75, of Lake Forest, IL, passed away October 5, 2021 after enduring a long illness with courage and grace. Jeff was the oldest of eight children, born to the late Evelyn (nee Lyle) and Roland Chicoine of Elk Point, SD. Jeff attended South Dakota State University where he was a letter winner on the SDSU football team. After graduating with a degree in agricultural economics, he went on to earn additional advanced degrees in business, finance and accounting from the University of Iowa and DePaul University. Jeff served in the US Army in Vietnam as an aerial observer and General's aide-de-campe earning Air Medals and a Bronze Star medal for his service. He continued in the active reserves achieving the rank of Captain. In 1974, Jeff married his wife of 47 years, Christine Morrone, at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in River Forest, IL. Jeff was a wonderful loving dad to two beautiful children Bradley Ryan (1976) and Andrea Marie (1977). Jeff worked in the corporate finance department of ABN AMRO, Inc; Bank of America Securities Inc; Lehman Brothers; and the Northern Trust Co. He retired as a Managing Director of Mesirow Advanced Strategies where he was a member of the Management Committee and travelled internationally for business development and client service. Jeff served several years as a member of the Board of Trustees at SDSU Foundation. He was also a member of the DePaul University Driehaus College of Business Advisory Board. Jeff was active in the local community, was an avid golfer and loved to travel. He especially enjoyed family vacations with his wife, children and grandchildren. Disney was always a favorite destination. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Roland and Evelyn Chicoine, his in-law parents Elizabeth and Alex Morrone, his brother Timothy and nephew Jason Chicoine. He is survived by his wife Christine, and his children Brad (Jennifer) Chicoine of Milton, GA and Andrea (Roberto) Baldi of Lake Forest, IL. He is survived by his grandchildren he loved: Alyssa, Jacob, Matteo, Marco and Mia. He is also survived by his many brothers and sisters: David (Marcia), Marcia (Patrick) Quinn, Danny (Penny), Brian (Terri), Ellen (Bryan) Little, Nicole (Joe) Klein, and his loving sister-in-law Shannon Chicoine. He is survived by his many nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held from 5 – 8 pm with a short prayer service to start at 7:15 pm on Friday, October 22 at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 Vine Ave., Lake Forest, IL 60045. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 am, Saturday, October 23 at Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest, IL. The family wishes to thank the staff of Balmoral Care Center at Lake Forest Place for their years of dedicated loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in gratitude, may be sent to the Geneva Foundation, 8707 Skokie Blvd., #400, Skokie, IL 60077. All those who knew Jeff will miss his wonderful smile and loving ways. His strength, dignity and courage was an inspiration.
