To Henry, Dina and Fran: There is so much I could say about Joan, and that I wanted to yesterday. But there were many speaking and I wasn't comfortable. What I wanted to say was how much I admired Joan and her special talent for making and maintaining friendships. Her nearly 40 year friendship with my mother and me is evidence of that talent. And, while Marilyn, one of our "African Queens," was very moving in her tribute yesterday, she failed to give credit for our continuing friendship from that trip to Joan. It is common for people to meet on trips (in tours) and get close, exchange phone numbers and promise to get together. We know how often this never happens. But, at the end of our Africa trip, Joan insisted that we make a date, for dinner at her house, to share photos. We had no choice. There we were, and we continue to meet every few months at each others' homes for dinner and have traveled together too. Thank you, Joan, for your friendship. You will be missed.

Love, Susan

Dear Henry and family, My deepest regrets to you and your family in the passing of Joan. I think of the two of you often. Thanks to you Henry and our meeting at Columbia National Bank I now own and enjoy the business Joan worked so hard in making a success for so many years. Barnard Ltd. will always be formerlly Bregstone's on our answering machine and we still keep a listing in the phone book. People ask about Joan all the time. In fact I found about her passing from Consolidated where they thought very highly of her.

Thank you for being such an important part of my life and the life of Barnard Ltd.
