Joanne C. Smith M.D.

Joanne Clare Smith, MD, age 60, of Hinsdale, Ill., passed away on Monday, Sept. 6, 2021. Since 2006, Dr. Smith served as President and CEO of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago), the No-1 ranked physical medicine and rehabilitation hospital for adults and children with the most severe, complex conditions. Dr. Smith is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Rory Thomas Repicky, and cherished children Claire and Michael. She was preceded in death by her adoring parents, Lawrence and Mary Jane Smith. She is the dear sister of the late Larry (Kris Houck) Smith, Mary Jane (Elbert) Williams, Karen (Joseph) Valenti, Michael (Christine Hyduex) Smith, Marcia (Gerard) Weston, Charles (Janet Plamondan) Smith; Virginia (Michael) Thomas, and Patrick (Jennifer) Smith. She is the devoted aunt of 16 nieces and nephews.
