John Barbino
John Joseph Barbino; age 93; WWII Veteran; died peacefully on January 11, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Dolores 'Dee' (nee Czechorski) for 49 years; son of the late John and Marie (nee Augustin); brother of Catherine Marguerite (nee Barbino) Rago; proud uncle of Janice (John) Besser, Nancy (Dan) Durbin, Ted (Barb) Czechorski, Tony (Anne) Czechorski, Damian (Karen) Czechorski, Debbie (Dan) Keenan, and Tom Czechorski; great-uncle of Peter (Nora) Durbin; great-great uncle of Eric & Ian Durbin; and friend to the many relatives of the Barbino, Rago, and Czechorski families. John was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in the Logan Square neighborhood. He was a graduate of Lane Tech High School in Chicago, served proudly in the Navy at the end of World War II, then graduated from DePaul University with a degree in accounting. John was known for dressing in the best of suits and traveled extensively during his lengthy career as an auditor. He retired from Allstate Insurance to quietly spend time at his home in Lincolnwood, IL with his wife Dee, pampering their dogs, and feeding the neighborhood birds and squirrels. Both John and Dee, often with John's Uncle 'Pap', would spend Fridays at Arlington International Racecourse placing $2 bets with their friends over a bowl of peanuts. John and Dee also volunteered with the Village of Lincolnwood Toys for Tots Program for an impressive 25 years and were recognized by the Village with an award for their outstanding service.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a future date to celebrate John's life, and a Private Interment will take place for John at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, IL where he will be buried with his late spouse Dolores and next to her parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Toys for Tots, Village of Lincolnwood, 6900 Lincoln Avenue, Lincolnwood, IL 60712, or Kindred Hospice, 85 West Algonquin Road, Suite 100, Arlington Heights, IL 60005. I worked with the Barbinos for years doing Toys For Tots. Couple of the nicest people in the world. Included a photo of John and Dee with the Marines and lots of toys. I am happy to have known John and send condolences to the family.
