He retired from Allstate Insurance to quietly spend time at his home in Lincolnwood, IL with his wife Dee, pampering their dogs, and feeding the neighborhood birds and squirrels. Both John and Dee, often with John's Uncle 'Pap', would spend Fridays at Arlington International Racecourse placing $2 bets with their friends over a bowl of peanuts.
