John R. Connolly

John "Jack" Russell Connolly, 82, of Lombard, formerly of Chicago's Beverly area, passed away peacefully on Dec. 25, 2022. Cherished son of the late Bernard Connolly and Angeline Connolly (nee Shea). Loving and devoted husband of the late Nancy ret. CPD (nee Garrity) for 51 years. Dear father of John B. Connolly (ret. Wheeling PD), Kristen Connolly and Katie (Mike) Vreeland. Proud and supportive Papa of Emily, Liam and Grace Cahill, Mickey, Peter, and Andrew Vreeland. Beloved brother of Rose (the late Joe) Popovich and the late Bernard T. Connolly, the late Suzann Wagner, and the late Andrew B. Connolly. Kind brother-in-law of Patricia (Frank) Pasterz, Mike (the late Betty) Garrity and Betsy (Mike) LaRocco and the late Jim (Carole) Garrity. Caring uncle to many nieces and nephews. Papa is now in heaven with his adored triplet grandchildren Morgan Rose, John "Jack" Martin, and Joseph Henry Vreeland II. His generosity was well known, and he was gracious to everyone who helped him along the way. He was always eager to tell stories and share his love of good food and sweets to show his gratitude. Jack will be remembered for his incredible work ethic and dedication to his family. We will miss his funny stories, wise advice, constant care, and witty comments that surely will be passed on for generations. Services are private.
