JOHN DORAN LAWLESS Sr.

John Doran Lawless Sr., age 89, died June 15, 2012 at Hines VA Hospital. The beloved husband of the late Cecilia (nee Bibro); preceded in death by his parents John and Madeline (nee Goodwin), sister Kay (Bob) Wheeler, and brother Ronald (Shirley) Lawless; loving brother of Eileen (Milt) Preston and David Lawless; dearest father of Barbara (Tom) Kalnes, John Jr. (Sarah), Dr. Christine, and Brian (Dr. Andrea); proud grandfather of Adam, Erica, Julia, Lucy, Susanna, and Katherine; dear great-grandpa of Kayla, Ethan, and Greysen; fond uncle and great-uncle of many. John generously served family, country and community. During WWII, John was awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Medal for heroism in 1944 while on board the USS Menges. When his ship was torpedoed, John voluntarily risked his own life to save the lives of others. John worked as an HVAC contractor for over 45 years, as the owner of Liquid Heat Engineers. He served as special assistant to the late Hon. John G. Fary, former member of the US Congress. John loved family, education, hard work, travel, deep sea fishing, Hawaii, music, golf, and baseball. In his final days, John continued to live life to the fullest; he will be greatly missed. Visitation July 13, 2012, 3 to 9 p.m. and July 14, 2012, 9 to 10 a.m. at Damar- Kaminski Funeral Home and Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Ave., Justice, IL. Memorial Service at the funeral home, July 14, 2012, 10 a.m., followed by final prayers, military honors, and interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, IL.
