John Lechowicz Obituary
Family and friends of John "Sonny" E. Lechowicz, Jr., 73, a resident of Glendale Heights for 10 years, formerly of the East Village neighborhood of Chicago, will gather for visitation Tuesday, July 26 from 3-9pm at Michaels Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 800 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, July 27 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Born May 20, 1943 in Chicago to the late John and the late Helen (nee Tomasciewicz), he passed away peacefully July 23, 2016 in Bloomingdale. Sonny was a proud 25 year Marine Corps veteran, serving 3 tours of duty during the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart and retiring as a Master Sergeant. Loving father of Christine; husband of 10 years to Roberta; dear brother of Tina Gradowski; fond brother of the late Mary Ann Mitchell and loving uncle, trusted friend and mentor to Mitch. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's name to the Patriot Guard Riders, www.patriotguard.org and click "Donate". John was the patriarch of our family. He loved sci-fi, NCIS, animals and a good steak dinner. He served our country with pride and honor. He was a class act and a gentleman. We love you and will dearly miss you.
