John K. "Jack" Whyte, son of the late
Andrew and Alice; brother of Larry; father of Bryan, Natalie and Caroline; longtime companion of Pat; uncle of Stuart; father-in-law of Patrick; brother-in-law of April; and loyal friend of many. Died Dec. 10, 2008; born April 20, 1936, Jack lived his entire life in Chicago and retired in 1999 after over 30 years of teaching with the Chicago Board of Education. He was a lifelong Cubs fan, skier and train enthusiast, who eagerly traveled the world. Most of all, he was a loving and proud father who also looked forward to his new role as soon-to-be grandfather. He will be missed greatly by all. There will be a gathering for friends and family at Bryan's house, 1354 Harding Ave, Des Plaines, IL, 60016, from 2 to 6 p.m. Dec. 21, 2008. For further information, call 847-477-6962.

Bryan, Natalie, Caroline, Dad, and Pat:
I'm saddened by this loss. I wish I had spent more time with Jack and gotten to know him better. I hope you are all comforted by the warm memories of Jack that you can share. My thoughts and prayers are with you today and everyday. I'm sorry I can't be there in person.
