Joseph Keeley Obituary

Joseph M. Keeley, 42, of Forest Park, went to God after a valiant 15 month battle with Pancreatic Cancer on March 27, 2004. Joe was a gift to all who knew him. His belief and approach to life was always ethical, sensitive and rational. Throughout his life, Joe capitalized on every minute of every day. During the course of his illness he never asked ''why me?'', but rather ''what's next?'' We will always love him and miss him. Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Caroline, nee Hoover; loving parents, Martin and Barbara, nee Pierce; best friend and brother, Marty; caring sister, Kathleen (Thom) Williams; and his adoring Aunt Peggy, nephews, nieces and a large group of family and friends. Visitation will be Friday, April 2 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, April 3, 12 noon at St. Bernardine's Church, Forest Park. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wellness House, 630-323-5150; National Public Radio, wbez.org; Caringbridge, caringbridge.com and the Democratic Party. I served with Joe in the 4th of the 4th and the 5th of the 18th field Artillery and Joe was a great soldier, hard worker, and good friend. We had many laughs and beers together after several days, weeks, and months, of being in the field conducting our soldierly duties over the years he was in the U.S. Army. He was a very intelligent and kind person and will be well missed by all who knew him. My condolences go out to his wife and family. So long for now old friend.
