Joseph G. Scotillo, of Crystal Lake, IL, was born on September 23, 1921, in Chicago, IL, to the late John and Mary (Basile) Scotillo. He passed away at Good Shepherd Hospital on April 11, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Elsie (Auriemma) Scotillo, whom he married on April 20, 1947, in Chicago. He is survived by his son, Hon. John J. (Nancy) Scotillo; and his daughter, Christine
Scotillo (Douglas Peine); and two grandchildren, Mary Scotillo and Nicholas Peine; he is also survived by his sisters, Genevieve (William) Rohen and Mary Francis (Thomas) Hartnett and his sister-in-law Lyn (Anthony) Scotillo; and numerous nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Hon. Anthony J. Scotillo. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in Italy and Egypt, acting as a translator. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the American Legion. He served on the Crystal Lake Fire and Police Commission for many years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Tues April 14th at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave. Crystal Lake. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Wed April 15, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. Crystal Lake. Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park. Visit www.mem.com.
