KATHERINE KNIGHT

Katherine Knight, age 100. Having grown up in IA she was on the first ever women's basketball team at Trinity College of Commerce. She was one of the first women in Chicago to work in radio and TV advertising. She was the matriarch of the family. During later life Miss Knight worked for Wirtz Corporation. She was promoted in her 80's by the late Bill Wirtz who had a genuine fondness for her especially when she lied about her age. She retired at the age of 86. For her 90th Birthday, Mr. Wirtz sent her a large floral arrangement reading "Happy 70th Birthday." She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Mary Jean (Don) Sears of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Kay Banks of Chicago, Mary Harrity of CA and Henry Kyas of Des Plaines, IL; beloved great aunt of Don (Denise) Sears of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Pamela Sears of Portland, OR, and David (Sarah) Banks of Lincolnshire, IL; fond great-grandaunt of Isabel Banks of Lincolnshire.
