I just learned of Kathy's passing and although some time has passed grief stays a much longer time. She was a great person and touched the life of me and my kids as well. She sponsored my one son at confirmation some years ago. I am sure she is greatly missed by her family and friends.

My sincere condolences to the Family of Kathleen. I first met Officer Heenan when she worked in the 002nd Police District. Her courage and common sense paired with her sense of compassion made her an outstanding police officer. Seeing her running through the hallways of the 13 story buildings in public housing at Stateway Gardens, Robert Taylor Homes and Ida B. Wells, were parts of her life not many people realized she did on a daily basis. Working in the lock up at Area 1 handling all the prisoners coming in on the south side. I saw many sides of this amazing lady, she often spoke about her children and the joy they brought to her life. She was so proud of them and loved to share those experiences, always relating how blessed she was to have her family. She was a very spiritual woman and I am certain the Good Lord has a plan for our trusted colleague and true friend. May she rest in peace, she will truly be missed.

My sincerest sympathy to Kathy's family. She will be greatly missed. I have fond memories of Kathy when we were friends in high school. We were on the varsity together and in class she always made me laugh, even when she wasn't trying to. She was a wonderful person while on earth and I know she is one of God's angels in Heaven now.
