Kevin D'Agostino Obituary
Like Michael Jordan, Kevin was a guy that "never lost a game…just ran out of time". As a family, we are saddened that the buzzer went off way too soon. Kevin was born with Cystic Fibrosis, but didn't live with Cystic Fibrosis. He lived with boundless amounts of strength, optimism, courage, energy, love, loyalty and determination. While others could say he was dealt a "bad hand", Kevin was in it to win it. A "bad hand" was merely another challenge to him! If you met him, you never forgot him. He left you feeling better about yourself, you were inevitably "The Best"!
As a pediatric ICU nurse in Chicago or a traveling nurse in Austin, Texas or as a volunteer nurse on a medical mission trip to Iraq, Macedonia and Croatia, Kevin packed so much into his life. These opportunities and adventures were all made possible by his determination and dedication to physical exercise; it was what he lived by to keep himself healthy. While honored to care for and help patients at the bedside, Kevin wanted to do more in the medical field and in 2015 was proud to be accepted into Rush University esteemed CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) program, but that dream was cut short by a life altering brain injury in 2016.
Despite the overwhelming obstacles that Kevin came to know, including a double lung transplant, he kept himself busy, surrounded by family and friends, with lunches and dinners at his favorite restaurant Benihana's and other eateries in Chicago and the suburbs. Thank you to all those who helped him stay occupied and engaged with their endless visits, love, encouragement, Backgammon, card games and stories that always ended with Kevin's favorite exclamation of "NO WAY"!
Kevin fought the good fight, and now we all know he is in heaven catching up with his dear sister Julie.
Funeral arrangements are private and a celebration of life will be planned for a future time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Julie D. Sending my condolences to the family! I saw his video on social media and watched it over and over! While it breaks my heart to know he´s passed, I also can´t help but smile imagining how joyous heaven must be with him there. I pray for his family and pray you are at peace! A life well lived. Kevin is a divine soul. Everyone who encountered him was changed forever for the better. He is a being of pure light. He is not gone - he will never be gone. In his form on Earth, he was the embodiment of love.

I had seen your video ages ago when Kevin was alive and remember seeing the news articles about it. It has popped up again, I didn't realise he had passed away. I didn't know Kevin but I find myself feeling upset and I felt compelled to write here. The joy in his voice of news lungs was infectious. May your soul rest in peace bro x

Kevin's video comes across my feed from time to time and I always pause to watch. What an amazing thing to witness. It was during this last showing that I learned of his passing. Sending love to his family and friends. He seemed like an amazing gentleman.

Another individual who has been touched by the video of Kevin, and has come to find out the unfortunate news that he has passed away... I know I may have never met Kevin, or even seen him in my lifetime. Yet I only wish to have the will to push on that he has. I first met Kevin at LGH as a 1st year Nurse and he gave me a minor stroke when I walked into his room and saw him practically upside down in some yoga like pose and coughing. He is my inspiration to strive to overcome all obstacles with a smile and energy that is still unmatched to this day. Good bye Kevin, I will miss you greatly.

There are no words to describe the love I had for Kev. We were in the trenches together in the ICU for years and stayed friends far beyond that. I will always hold you close to my heart and never forget all our times together. I love you always. Analise
