Kevin Doherty

Kevin J. Doherty, 83, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2022 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Rita, nee McDonnell. Loving dad to Theresa (the late Andy) Muller, Kevin (Kathryn), Colleen (James) Walker, Kathryn (Chris) Weber and Brian (Kelli). Proud grandpa to Christopher (Katie) Muller, Michael, Jack and Maeve Doherty, Fiona and Orla Walker, Mary Claire, Colin and Joe Weber, Liam, Kate and Caroline Doherty. Cherished brother to Patricia (the late Donald) Bunkenburg, Kathleen (the late Gary) Clyde and the late Jack (the late Pauline) and Thomas (Maureen). Dear son of the late Mary and John. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. Kevin will be missed by many friends and family. He was a proud 33 year member of the Chicago Fire Department retiring as Captain of Engine 68 and a member of Local #134 IBEW for 36 years. Kevin was a graduate and long-time parishioner of St. Edward's Catholic Church where he was also a coach and member of the Holy Name Society and later St. Vincent DePaul Society. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 8th from 3-8pm at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave., Chicago IL 60646. On Thursday, June 9th a visitation will be held from 10am until the time of the funeral mass at 11am at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 4350 W Sunnyside Ave, Chicago, IL 60630. Interment private.
