I can't believe it has been almost 5 years since we lost Larry. I miss going to work and seeing what new and interesting things he has purchased. He was very interesting to work for and a true friend when I needed him. He was almost like a member of our family. He
shared many happy times and sad times too.
Rest in peace my friend. I still call Eva like I promised I would....

On this anniversary of Larry's passing, I have re-read all the comments from his friends, business acquaintances and family. It is obvious that Larry was a man of integrity and was still very successful in his field. I remember staying in his home while I was on business in his area. We had a good "grown up" conversation (so much of my time with Larry had been spent as a child watching my older cousin "wheel and deal" successfully with any business venture he touched even as a teen ager.) In sharing as adults, after many years apart, Larry told me that all of life had taught him that God was at the center of his life and acknowledged that his strength came from his relationship with Jesus. When all is said and done, I treasure that memory and that conversation!

Larry was a visionary, adventurerer, intellectual, and often times an eccentric and because of these many attributes, he would enthrall his audience with his knowledge of some of the most sought after and desirable dreams...."that could be purchased and had value."
We will miss him. Our hearts and sympathy are with Eva and the family. I know how Larry loved them all. They were his most desired possessions.

My sincere condolences to your family. Larry always
said hello to me at coin shows.I had the pleasure
of attending the grand opening of his gallery in Oak Brook. Larry was always available to answer
questions I asked.

Dear Eva and family, So sorry to hear of Larry's passing. He was such a wonderful person and I always have such fond memories of him. I can still remember how he would take Rob and my daughters goose hunting out in Naperville. Everytime I cross Book Road, I think about how much fun they all had. He is not only a loss to his family and friends, but to humanity with all the good deads he has accomplished in his life. He has certainly left his footprint.

Great hunt with Larry

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Larry Whitlow. I knew Larry since the early 1970's, and worked for him at his Ford City coin shop in the late 1970's. He gave me my start in this profession, which I will never forget, and that I really appreciate his help for the years since then. Larry was a true Legend in the numismatic field.

Tremendous loss for you, Larry's family, and for all of us. I pray that you feel God holds you in the palm of his hand while you grieve.

Eva, Grandma Ruth, Tommy, Brandy and family,

I can't imagine the heartbreak you are experiencing right now. Tom and I will never forget Larry's kindness and generosity. Working with him 32 years, we shared a lot of happy times and sad times too. On September 11, Larry and I sat at the office and watched the tv as The Twin Towers fell. We were both crying. He told me not to worry, he was there for Tom and me if things got really bad.
Larry was greatly respected by the coin industry. He was friends with many dealers for over 25 years. He was known for his integrity and honesty, and he loved the industry. For the last few years I kept waiting for him to retire so I could also. He slowed down, but if not for his illness I don't think he would have retired for a long time.
I am so happy that he fulfilled his dream of going to Africa and seeing the Silver Back Mountain Gorillas. He had donated money to the Jane Goodall Foundation for years as he had many other charities.
I shall greatly miss you my friend. God grant you peace as you take Gretchen, Star, Lucy, Desi, and Cody to play ball.
